The children in room 4a are the first class to use the schools new science trolley. We decided to investigate the meal worms in our classroom. When we used the amazing visualiser we were able to watch one of the beetles have babies. By using the magnifiers we discovered that the worm (lava) had only four legs either side. Most of the worms had 12 segments and others had 10 or 13, we had so much fun measuring them. The pupa was really interesting to watch because it kept on moving. The darkling beetle has a life cycle just like the monarch butterfly. The next day we drew pictures of the different stages. Using the science trolley made our investigating so much better because we had all the new tools. Enjoy our photos.

Going to the Howick Historican Village was a brilliant day. The children learned so much about toys from the past and life back in the early 1900s. Thank you to those parents for your wonderful support.

Grandparents day was a huge success, the children had such a fabulous day so a big thank you to everyone that was able to come. Please feel free to visit our class and come and see the childrens work. The children have created an animoto video to share with you all. We hope you enjoy it.

Dear Parents
The children in room 4a have worked so very hard over the last three weeks designing their amazing calendars. The children focussed their designs around the Koru pattern. They used coloured paint pencils and black vivid.

We had such an amazing assembly last week and we really enjoyed sharing the Maori songs we have been learning with Mrs O 'Shea. Just come and have a listen to us all.

Learning about road safety is so much fun. The children in room 4a have learned that we need to be at least 148cm tall before we can stop sitting in our booster seat. We have been shown the dangers of what a seatbelt can cause if it does not fit us correctly. We were also told we should not be sitting in the front because of the air bags. The air bags when activated can be so very dangerous for young children because they have so much force. Talking with Constable Painter was so interesting. The best thing was sitting in an under cover police car.
We all had a fabulous time on wheels day. The children have written some brilliant stories to go with there photos. Take a look at our video.

We had such a fabulous time celebrating book week. Take a look at our photos and join in the fun.

Our new Topic is wheels. Look at our fantastic creations we have made.

Gosh! we had so much fun with Mr Mannion, he taught us some fantastic new skills we can use when we play soccer and rugby. Here are some of our photos. A BIG thank you to Mr Mannion from the children in room 4a.

We had such a neat time learning about reptiles and we really enjoyed doing some fun art. Here are some of our pictures. We first looked at lots of reptile pictures, we practised drawing a chosen reptile and then sketched one on a full sized A3. After that it was outlined with PVCA and black paint. The next step was to paint our pictures with coloured dye. Didn't they turn out awesome... Here are our pictures

Spot the wonderful parents taking a healthy and positive approach on getting the children to school. The children arrived safely and full of laughter and tales to tell of their enjoyable fresh start to the day. Thank you Mrs and MrTurner for walking that extra mile.

We look forward to our Tuesday afternoons because we get to spend some fun time with our buddies from 5d. We get to share our home readers and library books and during the year we will even do some projects which may be related to our topic. We love these get togethers and getting to know each other. Another great thing is knowing our teachers Mrs Dale and Mrs Field are also buddies.

Wasn't our play amazing at the assembly on Friday. If you missed it you can watch it below. Enjoy!

Come and paste a sticky note onto our wall wisher. What facts do we know? What do we want to find out about reptiles?
